Mr Stoakes used the Accelerator mortgage because of the way money is released during construction. The Accelerator scheme gives money up front at the start of each stage of the build, unlike a traditional self build mortgage which only gives money at the end of each stage. This difference in timing of when you get money from the lender can make a huge difference in the timing and success of your project.
